"There's plenty of time to finish our game AND defeat the Armada"

I really do hope you all know who is purported to have said that, although Drake was a huge self-publicist and played nothing like the role he is credited with in defeating the Armada.

Anyway, these images of Plymouth that I've just uploaded were all taken a (very rare) beautiful summer's day, what I call a "Blue Day" when the air is clear and there's not a cloud in the sky. On those days, there's a lovely intense sunlight on the sunny side of things and the shadowy side is filled in with the very bright blue of the sky. It's almost impossible to take a bad picture on such days. I reckon there are about six a year.

This picture illustrates what else happens on such days - everyone is happy and finds some way to enjoy themselves. You get the sense, on such days that this is how human beings are meant to be. The picture also illustrates that constant of human behaviour - boys showing off to girls. Yes, there were a gaggle of girls nearby and both sets pretended to ignore each other. At these times, both sexes are putting on a show and they both hate being photographed doing it as proves they were doing it and not just behaving normally. Showing off AND being photographed doing it is too much for the observers and either sex risks disinterest or ridicule.
